The Banners
Creating these banners involves intricate designs suitable for large-scale printing, considering details and vibrant colors. The Sonoco Institute of Packaging Design and Graphics hosts the printing process using large-format printers to ensure clarity and color accuracy. Eighteen banners, each measuring 5 feet by 32 feet, were produced, with materials chosen for durability against various weather conditions.
Transported back to Godfrey Hall, the banners undergo final preparations, including attaching three metal bars and 144 grommets for secure mounting. During Homecoming, these banners become a visual spectacle on Bowman Field, reflecting the collaborative efforts of students and faculty in the Graphic Communications department.
Clemson University’s Homecoming celebration, enriched by these banners, continues to be a cherished tradition. The banners not only contribute to the festive atmosphere but also exemplify the university’s dedication to excellence in graphic communications through technology and design skills.
In addition to crafting the banner, I was tasked with creating supplementary media for the returning alumni. This included a detailed floor map showcasing the new machines and printers integrated over the past few years. Complementing the map, I designed graphic elements for pins and buttons, providing alumni and their children with personalized keepsakes.
